Cap 1-3.5 cm; stalk central, 2-7 cm long x 3 mm diameter. 

Spores

Basidiospores 8.5-11 x 3-4.5 µm, elliptical, smooth, hyaline, inamyloid.

Diagnostic macroscopic feature

Small tough mushroom on sticks or other woodland debris, with reddish brown cap, and stalk that is pale buff towards apex and reddish brown to black towards base, densely covered overall with fine white hairs
